‘Caucus! The Musical’ takes stage in Des Moines |

A musical comedy inspired by the Iowa Caucuses, featuring song titles such as “Get Off Your Sorry Ass and Vote” will premiere in Des Moines right before the actual political event, producers announced today. Right Brain Productions will present “Caucus! The Musical,” in 17 performances, Dec. 27 to Jan. 13 at the Iowa State Historical Museum Theater, 600 E. Locust St., Des Moines. Written by native Iowan Robert John Ford, the musical is billed as “a hilarious, irreverent and oftentimes politically-incorrect look at the Iowa Caucuses and how an undersized state plays an oversized role in the presidential nomination process.” First presented in a workshop production at the Des Moines Playhouse before in 2004 Iowa Caucuses, the show features 20 characters, including a “typical Iowa farm family” and “candidates who will do anything to win their votes.” Show times may vary, the producers note, to reflect the likely change in the [ Full article ] |
