Karl Rove’s Departure - Let the Media Fawning Begin

Listening to reports this morning regarding Karl Rove’s pending resignation from TeamBush, a soundtrack came immediately to mind. As Rove departs the grounds of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the last time, he’ll be whistling “I did it my way” on his way out the gate. It occurs to me that Rove isn’t leaving of his own accord. As with most Bush regime departures, he’s allegedly leaving to spend more time with his family. I think there’s something deeper at work, though. At this moment in time, it’s very quiet in Washington. August is truly a dead zone inside the beltway. But when legislators return after Labor Day, things are going to heat up very quickly. The constitutional crisis hasn’t gone away, and Karl Rove is at the very heart of the crisis. Congressional subpoenas have been ignored, and the executive branch continues to thumb its collective nose at the legislative branch. A showdown is coming. Will Rove eventually end
