Independence, Mo. (The Weekly Vice) -- Jacob A. Jett, an 18 year old student from Independence, Missouri was arrested in a foiled attempt to have a hit man murder his parents, according to Jackson County Missouri Prosecutors.Police say Jett gave money and three handguns to two men with instructions to kill his parents, Richard and Robyn Parnell. He allegedly also paid $260 to the would-be hit men and provided his father's ATM card and PIN number.A fellow student named Joseph R. Garcia introduced Jett to the hit men in January. Police became aware of the plot when one of the hit men was picked up on a parole violation and later told police about the intended scheme. Police contacted the other man Jett intended to hire to corroborate the story.Jett and Garcia were arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder and armed criminal action. If convicted, the attempted second-degree murder charge carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison. The armed criminal action
