Hunter and Thompson to headline October GOP dinner in Des Moines |

The Iowa Republican Party announced today that presidential candidates Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson are scheduled to headline the annual Ronald Reagan Dinner on October 27. Hunter, a California congressman, and Thompson, an actor and former Tennessee senator, will share the stage and audience of roughly 600 of the Iowa GOP’s most influential activists expected to attend the banquet at Hy-Vee Hall. Coincidentally, Hunter and Thompson were the only two Republican presidential candidates to miss the last big Republican banquet, the April Lincoln Day Dinner in Des Moines. Thompson had not yet declared his candidacy and Hunter, who had planned to attend, had weather-related travel problems. Iowa Republican Party spokeswoman Mary Tiffany said it is possible that other candidates would attend the October event, but that those details were pending. [ Full article ] |
