Well, Dolly is here and we (my husband, dog, and I) haven’t blown away yet. Has anyone read One Lucky Girl by George Ella Lyon? It’s a picture book about a family whose trailer is hit by a tornado. The baby of the house ends up missing, and a frantic search begins. Fortunately, a sibling finds the baby safe and sound in her crib in a nearby field. It’s an exciting book that elementary school kids would enjoy listening to. This is the first time I’ve gone through a hurricane as an adult. When I was a child living in Houston, TX, my family experience Hurricane Alicia back in the 80s. I can still remember my mom being a nervous wreck because my dad was out of town on business and she had three kids to take care of. She spent a lot of time on the phone with my grandma in Indiana. My brother, sister, and I were really weird children. While my mom was having a cow about the whole affair, we were having the time of our lives eating Pop-tarts [ Full article ] |
