In order to process my teaching credential -- my PRELIMINARY teaching credential after all this shit, and now I have another two years of hassle to get a "clear" credential, and that's a whole 'nother story -- I just had to check a box agreeing with this:I solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America, the Constitution of the State of California, and the laws of the United States and the State of California. I had to sign something similar when accepting a job with the Los Angeles Unified School District. I mean, upholding the constitution isn't a bad thing -- lord knows it would help if our elected officials did so -- but it seems a little forced-patriotic and odd. [ Full article ] |
