Breaking down in the middle of the road flat out sucks. Instructables has a step-by-step tutorial that demonstrates how to create a lever using a tree or light pole and a long rope to help pull your vehicle up a hill (as shown above). The Instructable touts that with this technique you can more than double your man power. This is going require that you keep a lengthy piece of rope in your vehicle at all times—but that might not be a bad addition to your emergency car kit.
