Casting an eye toward a possible general election matchup, Republican Rudolph W. Giuliani this morning castigated Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton over what he said was her position during Wednesday night's Democratic presidential debate "that she would not make a commitment that we would stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power." Giuliani, speaking to reporters gathered at a Santa Monica hotel to hear former California Gov. Pete Wilson endorse his candidacy, said that he read a transcript of the debate and that Clinton's comments left "a lot of ambiguity about Iran" and that "this could be a major issue in the campaign." He accused Clinton of purposefully using opaque language in answering questions about whether she would pledge to keep nuclear weapons out of Iranian hands.
