Hey Darfur, Eat My Dust!

That’s pretty much all they have to eat in Somalia: United Nations emergency coordinator John Holmes said last week that malnutrition and disease, combined with political insecurity and drought, have made conditions worse in Somalia than in Darfur and Chad, the Los Angeles Times said Wednesday. Somalia leads another list, too: Sleaze is hobbling the recovery of war-ravaged countries like Iraq and Somalia, which joined Myanmar among states perceived as the world’s most corrupt, an anti-graft watchdog reported Wednesday. I don’t think Somalia attracts the bleeding-hearted glitterati the way Darfur does—but then, neither did the Congo. I coulda sworn there were four million people around here somewhere, but I just can’t find ‘em!
