Dear Readers, I write this because many of you have been faithfully following the story of Karim since last spring and will continue to do so when he arrives back in the U.S. in June. I want to share my personal story. I want you to know that the price of following God's call on one's life is not always easy, yet I want to encourage you to follow His call, no matter the price. Earthly relationships are only temporal. Yet, one's relationship with the Almighty is eternal.I come from a staunchly conservative Catholic family. I am sad to say that my parents and some of my siblings were always extremely prejudiced against people of other nationalities, races and religions. I grew up in Milwaukee during the race riots of the 1960's. I heard time and time again negative comments about black people. I also heard nasty remarks about oriental, Middle Eastern, fat, Jewish and many other types of people. In my heart I always knew these criticisms of others were not in line with [ Full article ] |
