Volunteers assisting with the Iowa campaign of Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani will be manning the phone banks on Thursday for a grassroots effort billed as “Iowa Super Thursday.” According to a campaign press release, the volunteers will be making thousands of calls to spread the word about Giuliani’s 12 commitments - a set of campaign promises. Then on Saturday, college students helping with Giuliani’s campaign will be working to sign up volunteers and supporters at the Iowa-Iowa State football game. The students, competing as teams, are from the University of Iowa, Iowa State University and Drake University. Iowa advisers to the former New York mayor say these new efforts are aimed at gaining ground on former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who leads in statewide polls. [ Full article ] |
