ESPN Would Prefer You Not See Lisa Salters' Views on Race and Parkour |

Filed under: ESPN On the ESPN show E:60 this week, Lisa Salters reported on the sport of parkour, which is sort of a do-it-yourself obstacle course. Before her story began, Salters ranted about how black people would never participate in parkour. "This is something that white people do," Salters said. "How many black people parkour? None. There's some things that are intrinsically not interesting to us as a people. This is one of them."It was a ridiculous comment from Salters (it will come as news to Sebastien Foucan), and it's stunning that no one at ESPN realized that and kept her statement from getting on the air. But I guess ESPN realizes that now, because it has edited Salters' comments out of the E:60 video you can watch online at ESPN.com, which is above to the left. Thanks to YouTube, though, you can still see what Salters had to say, above to the right. ESPN, of course, has a history of its reporters making racial generalizations.
