China arrests protesters who called for Dalai Lama's return |

Scores of people were arrested in a traditionally Tibetan area of western China after a public show of support for the exiled Dalai Lama. Here's a report from the Associated Press. The arrests took place in Lithang in western Sichuan province. According to news reports, a man took the stage during an annual festival, grabbed a microphone and asked the crowd if they wanted the Dalai Lama to return. Hundreds responded with a roaring yes. The man was quoted as saying, "If we cannot invite the Dalai Lama home, we will not have freedom of religion and happiness in Tibet."
