Advancing into China, the world’s biggest steel market, was “inevitable”, said Lee Dong-hee, Posco’s CFO. The steelmaker aims to expand its annual global production capacity by about 60% to 50 mln tonnes by 2011. “We are reviewing several candidates to look for business opportunities and strengthen co-operation,” Mr Lee told the Financial Times. “The Chinese government does not allow foreign investors to become major shareholders of local steelmakers, so we want to take a minority stake but will seek to exert management control within the legal framework.” 08:33 NTRZ [ Full article ] |
