Business.com Sells for nearly $350 million |

Telephone-directory company R.H. Donnelley Corp. clinched a deal for Web-based marketing directory Business.com Inc. for between $340 million and $360 million, according to a person familiar with the transaction. In 1999 business.com was founded by Jake Winebaum and Sky Dayton that bought the name for $7.5 million, which was a lot of money at the time for a domain name. Marc Ostrofsky sold the domain in 1999 to the 2 under the name eCompanies. Prior to that Business.com was purchased from idNames.com for $150,000 in a deal brokered by Pinkard “Pinky” Brand.
