Of course, Bush is a bit befuddled on the subject. Earlier this week he made a disparaging remark about Iraq leadership. Since al-Maliki is the head of Iraq, he took it personally and snapped back. Then Bush tried to make up to his “good guy” friend. Oh, that’s old news, I suppose, but the WaPo has a nice summary. Republicans going off message is a bit odd. They’re usually pretty darned good at staying on message. Isn’t that one of Karl Rove’s claims to fame? I’m thinking it is hard to stay on message when the party is in disarray. Heck, some of the members, like Haley Barbour’s old lobbying firm, are working to undermine Al-Maliki.
