Bob Costas on Fox (For One Day)

Filed under: NFL Media WatchMy initial reaction from all of the NFL pregame shows -- ESPN, CBS, Fox, NBC -- is that they're all the same this year as they were last year. Sure, there are some new people in front of the camera -- Keyshawn Johnson, Bill Cowher, Tiki Barber -- but it's still a bunch of guys sitting around talking about football. But there was one notable change: Bob Costas was on Fox yesterday. USA Today reports:Costas popped up on Fox's studio show in a segment taped three weeks ago with Fox pregame show comedian Frank Caliendo. Costas, by phone Sunday, said it was kept "a secret" from both Fox and NBC - "I don't know if I had to (get NBC's permission) but I didn't" - and NBC Sports chairman Dick Ebersol called Sunday to say he was "amused" when he saw it. The skit had Caliendo doing his less-than-flattering imitation of NBC's John Madden, and Costas punching him out. What makes Costas great is that as serious as he can be as a journalist, he's never humorless.
