Return of the prodigal daughter

While I was thrilled by all of my Mother’s Day presents - not one but TWO! pairs of Amy Bengtson earrings, presented by CJ after I awoke at 9am to a cappucino, a slice of bacon, and my boyfriend Tim Russert on the tube - the greatest of them all was Tacy’s safe arrival home from her solo trip to Washington (DC, not state). In the weeks leading up to her trip, Miss Goosie and I had been at odds more often than not. Most of our tiffs concerned minor irritations - the sort of inexplicable stuff that all kids do to unintentionally annoy the crap out of their parents. But as they piled up and piled on, my fuse grew shorter and my patience wore thin. I started to look forward to her trip. To less clutter around the house, to less wailing from CJ, to fewer exasperated reminders to bring her nightly water cup downstairs and take her (three pairs of) shoes upstairs.
