Take, for example, Geoff Gottbrecht, a center on the Boston College High School football team: "We used to be America's team," said Gottbrecht, as he stretched between plays at football practice yesterday. "Now, we're like the Yankees - we're the bad guys, and it seems like everyone out there hates us. That's the worst part about this."Awesome. A-Rod = Belichick. Gottbrecht's comments bring up an important point, though: about the only angle that hasn't been covered in this whole mess is the effect it has on kids who look up to professional athletes. Yes, Charles Barkley reminded us that he's not a role model, but that doesn't change the fact that millions of kids think of sports stars as exactly that. But now what?
