Charges against Haneef dropped: DPP These two men have brought shame to Australia and hurt our international reputation. They are a disgrace to the parliament and to their profession. If they had a shred of decency left they would announce their resignations immediately. UPDATE: The Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews will grant Dr Mohamed Haneef a “residential determination” that will allow him to return to his Gold Coast home. Mr Andrews said he would seek further advice from the Commonwealth Solicitor General in the meantime. So far the DPP, the AFP Commissioner and Andrews have all refused to admit any wrongdoing or incompetence, nor have I heard any suggestion of regret for the part they have played in ruining Dr Haneef’s life and that of his family.
