Anybody who thinks Jacob Bender is going to be the opening day starter at left guard should be subjected to a drug test. In the last couple of practices, Bender has been the starting left guard. There is no question Bender is a solid prospect big, strong and athletic. But to actually think he is a candidate to start at left guard is insane. This is a rookie out of 1-AA Nicholls State. He's a project. He's not playing against Stephen F. Austin and Central Arkansas anymore. Plus, guard is a new position for him. He was a left tackle for the Colonels. And let's not forget, the Jets play New England in the opener, featuring the most confusing Front Seven looks in the NFL. Veterans don't know what they are looking at, how would a rookie at a new position deal with it? Plus D'Brickashaw Ferguson is still a work-in-progress at left tackle.
