Beijing Olympics Accommodation Still Available for August |

This might be hard to believe but apparently there are still hotel rooms left for the Beijing Olympics set to start this August. Beijing Tourism is expecting 500,000 travelers to visit for the Olympics but the hotel rooms are currently only booked to capacity at the top of the line hotel range. For lower rated hotels, about only half the rooms have been filled. No one knows for sure but some have attributed the short fall on general high prices (inflated hotel room rates from 400-1000%), high ticket costs and the recent disastrous earthquake. China also changed their visitors Visa policy cracking down on short-stays which may potentially lead to unwanted activists protesting during the Olympics. Respectively so, the average price for a three-star hotel room in Beijing during the Olympics is a reasonable $176 USD which is still a good deal if you can afford it. [ Full article ] |
