Australian Xbox 360 gets price drop, Core Package same price as Wii!

Microsoft has announced the first Xbox 360 price cut in Australia/New Zealand! The Xbox 360 Core system has been dropped to A$399.95 (down from A$429), making it the same price as the Nintendo Wii! Meanwhile the Xbox 360 Pro package has dropped to A$579 down from A$649! These price drops are thanks to reduced manufacturing costs and will put the Xbox 360 Pro package favorably against the extremely expensive A$1000 PS3, while the cheaper Wii-priced Xbox 360 Core package will allow that system to compete with the casual, low-end consumer market. In an interview with Xbox AU/New Zealand boss David McLean, he talks about courting to both the casual and hardcore gaming markets, about how the Xbox 360 Core package will continue to be sold and won’t be discontinued, and the coming of the Xbox 360 Elite and Pro packages equipped with HDMI slots.
