You played my heartstrings Just like you played your harp A skillful musician; Graceful, lithe, and smart The first time I saw you I knew that you looked sharp But so was the knife You drove into my heart And I cried for you Tears of pain, tears of sorrow I would have died for you Given up my tomorrow When you turned your head from me The music wouldn't start But next thing I knew: You were playing at my heart I don't know why I Hear you in my head It's been a year Since they found you dead To think of your death A most terrible thing You never heard the Beat of angel's wings Cause of some reckless driver On a one-way street All that you heard was Your heart's very last beat And I cry for you Tears of pain, tears of sorrow I would die for you To give you my tomorrow When they made you close your eyes The music wouldn't start But still I can feel You playing in my heart Yes, I wrote it.
