One child is grown, and the other is nearly grown, but I remember car line, getting the maps from the school at the beginning of year with arrows showing parents how to enter and exit in an orderly manner. The summer camps my children attended had similar maps and letters with instructions of how to pick up your child in the least confusing way. The message was clear: Don't start no mess in car line, won't be no mess in car line. Keep it simple. That's not what happened earlier this week in New Orleans, La., at the Treme Community Center. Parents in car line and the children waiting for them witnessed an off-duty New Orleans police officer gone mad.
