Alaska staff rallies to help LA travelers |

Some 120 Alaska Airlines employees stayed on duty after their shifts had ended at Los Angeles International Airport late Saturday and early Sunday to help travelers marooned on the tarmac by a Customs and Border Protection computer shutdown. Those Alaska workers bought out Burger King's supply of hamburgers and a Terminal 3 snack bar's stock of juice to supply sustenance to 976 Alaska passengers whose planes were stuck on the tarmac, said the airline. Other workers scrounged up diapers and other supplies to help passengers whom Customs and Border Security prohibited from leaving their planes.
