Guest blog by Doug Sacrison, Crime Rant intern Uh-oh! Watch out South Carolinians. You’ve got gypsies! And where there’s gypsies, you can bet tramps and thieves aren’t far behind. Sheriffs in South Carolina are warning residents to watch out for gypsies. The “travelers” or “tinkers” are apparently roaming the state looking for a quick buck through scams. Or maybe the cops just want you to think that. Gypsies have long been given a bad rap throughout the world, so maybe the authorities in Cherokee County are just now getting on that bandwagon. The warning was issued because of reports that roving bands of men had been appearing at houses willing to do odd jobs extra cheaply. The problem was that the work would either be substandard or would simply not get done. Hey, you pay for what you get!
