What a week. I know I stretched things last year with a two-day birthday celebration followed by the epic 21st-and-a-half six months later, but due to circumstances (mostly out of my control) my 22nd birthday has lasted a whole week! Sweet party, eh? Here's how it all went down.Thursday 28th September: the birthday itself. It starts off grand, with the annual card-and-present ceremony, which I had to conduct by myself this year, what with nobody else about. Things quickly heat up though - literally. I start cooking one of my favourites - Italian chicken with garlic, lemon and pan-fried potatoes - and just as I add the white wine vinegar to the mix, the entire concoction explodes, starting a small fire on the hob and coating the kitchen in vegetable oil. Miraculously, I come out unscathed, and the fire alarm doesn't go off due to the lack of smoke.
