By LORI DANN KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Mike Sherman’s NFL pedigree and Aggie roots were enough to command immediate respect among Texas A&M players.But what he did during the first week of the Texas A&M Aggies’ spring practice took things to a whole new level. One of Sherman’s first stops in April was offensive line drills. And he wasn’t there simply to watch."He would hold the bag and say, 'You’re not doing it right. You need to do it this way,’ " senior tackle Travis Schneider said. "I’m not used to that. We’d be pounding away at each other in the corner, hitting bags and driving the sled, and he would spend 30 minutes with us. To have the head man work like that with us offensive linemen, who never get any credit for anything, that meant a lot."Sherman’s "down-in-the-trenches" mentality comes from his days as an offensive line coach, including two stints with the Aggies (1989-93 and 1995-96).
