By SHERYL JEAN DALLAS -- The new American Girl Boutique and Bistro at the Galleria Dallas doesn't need to advertise.Although the store technically doesn't open until today, visitors could walk through its open doors Thursday to experience the American Girl phenomenon.Imagine a fantasyland of bright colors, sweet smells, dessert and dolls. Girls typically spend hours at a store picking out a doll, dressing her, having her hair styled and taking her to lunch."Look, Mommy," cried Paloma Renteria, 7, to Deborah Renteria of Richardson as she ran to a doll named Julie. "Look what I found -- an outfit and slippers." A shriek of glee followed.Paloma said her first visit to an American Girl store was "really cool." She received her first American Girl doll, Mollie, for Easter and would like Julie as her second.Multiply Paloma by a few thousand, and that's what you'll see at today's grand opening.
