Map of epicenter of yesterday’s earthquake in Sichuan Province, China An estimated 60,000 people are missing in China after the 7.9-magnitude earthquake struck Monday afternoon. Rescue teams have been working diligently to save survivors caught in the rubble of the aftermath of what is the worst quake to hit China in over 30 years. Mianyang City was heavily affected with over 18,000 residents still trapped in debris and over 7,000 killed. The earthquake has also wreaked havoc on Mianzhu, Shifang, Guangyuan City, and Chengdu, and it’s impact was felt as far as 950 miles away in Beijing.
