(By Rafat Ali on Paidcontent) Masala, a still-in-stealth San Francisco-based social networking startup, has raised $4.5 million in its first round of funding. The round was led by VantagePoint Venture Partners, according to a regulatory filing, picked up by PEHub. The company is run by onetime Sevin Rosen Funds partner Amra Tareen. Nikhil adds: Now there's some history behind the domain Masala.com: back in 1995, Om Malik had co-founded Masala, which was a portal for a South Asian magazine of the same name.
