The 21 remaining South Korean hostages in Afghanistan have received a stay of execution until tomorrow. By which time the Taleban say their demands must be met or more lives will be lost. The 13 day ordeal has led to questions about the wisdom of such mission trips from South Korean which sends the second largest number abroad after the US. The Christian Post opinion piece argues that 'no' this should not deter mission trips. There is a moving interview with some of the hostages' families in the Washington Post. Kim Jung-ja, mother of Lee Sun-young, one of the captives said in a statement before other grieving relatives at the Saemmul Community Church in Bundang, "This is not an issue about religion, ideology or nationality. This is a matter where the precious lives of family members are on the line." We forget that at our peril. [ Full article ] |
