Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall is a man after my own heart. Of course, I don't mean he's literally after it and wants to use it in some kind of broth, but rather, he likes to keep things simple, hearty and fun. Whether that means home cooking with locally grown produce or getting plastered on real ale, he's not fussed. So it pleases me greatly that he's back on our screens with River Cottage: Gone Fishing (Channel 4, Thursday, 8pm). We've seen Hugh showing people how to cook real grub on his beautiful River Cottage camp, but Thursday sees my favourite TV cook leaving the green hills in favour of rolling waves. With some mates, Hugh is off fishing and he heads to the Channel Islands to cast his rod and eat what he catches. Aside from the mouth watering fish dishes, Hugh also finds time to jump into the sea to pester a basking shark (presumably trying to bask). It's all good fun and Hugh, as ever, is a joy to watch.
