2008 WSOP Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship Underway

Ahh, this is a bittersweet update. My mom and I were going to play in the 2008 WSOP Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship which begun today at the Rio in Las Vegas. According to the official 2008 WSOP Live Tournament Update site, 1,189 ladies entered this year's $1,000 buy-in event. With a prize pool of over $1 million, the top 99 positions will be paid. The ultimate winner who will be crowned as the Queen of the 2008 Ladies WSOP event will receive the coveted WSOP bracelet as well as a first-place prize of $224,702. For the lucky lady who makes the final table, but goes out in ninth place, a cash prize of $20,034 will be waiting. Hopefully next year fate won't step in in the way of a torn meniscus (on my mom's part) and we'll be able to take part in the 2009 WSOP Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship. Good luck ladies!
