United States: Gold 7 Silver 6 Bronze 8 TOTAL MEDALS - 21 The United States have moved past Korea into second place overall with a total count of 21 medals, 7 of which are gold. The newest addition to the count of the gold medals was for Swimming in the Men's 200m Freestyle Relay by Michael Phelps and the Men's 100m Backstroke by Aaron Peirsol. Walton Eller also picked up a gold medal for Shooting in the Men's Double Trap. The two silver medals won on Day IV came in Swimming from Rebecca Soni in the Women's 100m Backstroke and Matt Grevers in the Men's 100m Backstroke. The three bronze medals were earned by Margaret Hoelzer and Ryan Lochte for Swimming, Alexander Artemev, Raj Bhavsar, Joey Hagerty, Jonathan Horton, Justin Spring and Kai Wen Tan in the Men's Gymnastics Artistic. Currently the overall standings are the Unites States in second place with South Korea in third and China holding first place. South Korea has 5 gold medals and 5 silver medals [ Full article ] |
