The following is the second in a short series articles on the FISA bill approval on 7/9/08. FISA: Why I Can No Longer Vote for Barack Obama FISA: The Morning After, Part 1 FISA: The Morning After, Part 3 Arlen Specter, R-Pa: “There’s an old expression: buying a pig in a poke. It means buying something that you don’t know what it is you’re buying. Well, that’s what the Senate is being asked to do here today to grant retroactive immunity to a program where the members don’t know what the program is.“ I just don’t get Arlen Specter. Even though he’s a Republican, and he makes all the right noises at times on egregious affronts to constitutionally protected liberties, in the end it rarely matters. Why? Because when the rubber meets the road, and the roll is called, Specter goes ahead and votes totally against his own statements.
