While some of us have been writing about the race v gender debate when it comes to television talk show host Oprah Winfrey for awhile now, the mainstream media is also starting to discuss this issue openly this week. Early on in the 2008 race for the White House, Oprah threw has sizable influence behind Senator Barack Obama instead of Hillary Clinton. That decision could have been explained away as her just wanting to support her home state Senator and not because she preferred an African-American candidate over a white woman.However, in recent days - it has been reported on the Drudge Report and Fox News that Oprah Winfrey is refusing to interview Gov. Sarah Palin , the first GOP woman running for vice president in history. If this report turns out to be true, then it will certainly be strong evidence that Oprah puts her race ahead of her gender and what will that controversial fact mean to the millions of women that watch her on television everyday?
