It has been widely reported that Gordon Smith, in the battle of his Senate career this year at the polls, is not going to attend the Republican convention. I’ve discussed the subject here, and MSNBC adds the name of Pat Roberts of Kansas to the list in an article yesterday. No, Gordon Smith does not want to be seen with Republicans. Oh, and wasn’t he crowing about sponsoring legislation alongside Barack Obama just a week or so ago? As I’ve noted before, Gordon Smith has no indication on his web site that he’s a Republican. Still, the man is the Oregon State Chair of the McCain for President Committee, so he’s still got one tie left to the Republican Party. Well, no longer, my friends.
