In Massachusetts, Niki Tsongas (D), the widow of the late Sen. Paul Tsongas (D-MA), "took a step closer to winning the 5th Congressional District seat once held by her husband with a victory in Tuesday s special election primary," according to CQ Politics. Tsongas received 36% of the primary vote, besting Eileen Donoghue with 32%. Tsongas "now will face Republican Jim Ogonowski, a retired Air Force officer, who easily defeated one other candidate for the GOP nomination." She is heavily-favored in this Democratic district.
