2 postponed fireworks displays next weekend

By BILL TEETER Two fireworks displays are scheduled for next weekend -- holdovers from the Fourth of July week, when they were postponed by muddy and flooded fields.Hurst will host its Star Spangled Labor Day at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at Hurst Community Park, southwest of the intersection of Pipeline and Precinct Line roads.Public Improvement District 6, in the Park Glen neighborhood of far north Fort Worth, will have a display at 9:15 p.m. Saturday at Arcadia Trail Park North, southwest of North Tarrant Parkway and Park Vista Boulevard. The rain date is Sunday at the same time and location. Visitors can park on neighborhood streets.Since the display is nearly two months late, it will have a different theme, Caroline Sherman of PID 6 said. "We just want everybody to help us celebrate the end of summer," Sherman said.Hurst spokeswoman Ashleigh Whiteman said the city is still promoting its event as a patriotic celebration.
