Whiteheads are oil secreted from the glands, dead skin cells, and a tiny opening on the surface of the skin. However the opening is so small that air can not enter to oxidize the material trapped inside the follicle. As a result of this, the material under the skin remains white. On the other hand, blackheads have an opening on the skin's surface that is much wider than the whitehead. The holes are filled with the same material, but because of the larger opening it allows air to reach the material and oxidize it, which turns the material black. [ Full article ] |
