Media advisory, Saturday, October 17, 2009, 7 p.m., Rogers Centre, 127th Annual Police Games Broadcast time: 05:00 Saturday, October 17, 2009 Public Information 416−808−7100 On Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 7 p.m., the 127th Annual Police Games will be held at the Rogers Centre. There will be performances by the Skyriders Trampoline Team, The Disc Dogs high−performance dog show, and Melissa Elaschuk of Traffic Services will be singing. The multi−sport event, organized by the TPAAA, raises money for the Toronto Police Widows and Orphans Fund which, since 1952, has helped over 8,500 families in their time of need. The Games will feature the Toronto Police on Parade, with a moving tribute played by a combined Military Brass Band and the Toronto Police Pipes and Drums. The Police and Fire Heroes' Challenge will see athletes from the Toronto Police Service and Toronto Fire Services compete in an exciting obstacle course featuring sprinting, wall−scaling and body−dragging for the ultimate title. There are sporting events to please all ages, young and young at heart. The perennial favourite, tug−of−war, promises to deliver strength and sweat from pumped−up competitors, including teams from the Toronto Police Service, Military Police and Peel Regional Police. Prior to the friendly, but keenly contested, sporting event, fans can enjoy a static display outside the Rogers Centre, featuring vehicles of the Toronto Police and Fire Services as well as the Canadian military.
