Title: The Top Ten Moves of Yoshinobu Kanemaru View count: 1659 Rating: 4.965517 (29 ratings) Description: Yoshinobu Kanemaru is one of Pro Wrestling NOAH's top Jr. Heavyweight competitors, and has been since NOAH's founding. Kanemaru was trained in the All Japan Pro Wrestling Dojo, but given the way things were booked in the 1990s, the Jr. Heavyweight division never got much of a chance to shine. That all changed in 2000, when 99% of the roster jumped to Misawa's new NOAH promotion. Here, Kanemaru, and many of the others in the division, were given their shot, and they ran with it. Kanemaru won the 2001 tournament to crown the first GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion. He would eventually lose the belt to Tatsuhito Takaiwa, only to gain it back again the following year. After losing it again, he and Takashi Sugiura focused on the newly created GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Titles, but were unsuccessful in that endeavor. In 2004, Kanemaru found himself on the biggest stage in NOAH's short history, facing Jushin "Thunder" Lyger at the Tokyo Dome for the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title. He would emerge victorious over the legend, once again the champion. Many(including myself) would consider this his best reign yet, defending the belt in some fantastic matches against the likes of TAKA Michinoku, Low Ki, and his partner Sugiura. He would also avenge his loss to Takaiwa. In June of 2005, he and Sugiura finally succeeded in wrestling the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Titles from KENTA and Marufuji, though a month later, KENTA would defeat Kanemaru for the singles belt. After losing the belts to Minoru Fujita and Ikuto Hidaka, the duo regained the belts a short time later. In 2007, he up-ended Mushiking Terry to win his fourth reign as GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion, once again enjoying a long run before being defeated by Bryan Danielson. At this time, he became even more heelish, and succeeded in turning long time fan favorite Kotaro Suzuki. Together, the two have been the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions for the last fifteen months. Kanemaru's style is a combination of high impact and aerial offense. His Deep Impact has jarred many necks, and his Moonsault has put down some big names. He favors the Sheerdrop Brainbuster as well, and his Touch Out finisher has claimed some of the best that wrestling has to offer, such as Lyger, Low Ki, TAKA, and even the likes of KENTA.
