Basically, I tried to summarize the main plot of the first season of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" using clips of subtitles from the anime series. Text Summary Aide: Haruhi wants to find aliens, time-travelers, and espers. She created a club (SOS Brigade) to find such people, making Kyon, Nagato, Asahina, and Koizumi join her club and search. Nagato's an alien, Asahina's a time-traveler, Koizumi's an esper, and Kyon's a normal guy. Three years ago, Haruhi wanted to find something "out of the ordinary," and her dream literally became reality in the present. She didn't know she brought these people together -- an alien, time-traveler, esper, and... other interest. She also doesn't know that her innermost wishes dictate the reality of the entire universe.
