Title: The Comic Genius of Nancy Kulp View count: 6561 Rating: 5.0 (9 ratings) Description: Long before there was Lily Tomlin, Sandra Bernhard,or Ellen DeGeneres there was Nancy Kulp. In case anyone has forgotten Nancy Kulp and her powerful comedic chops, here is an early clip of her on the nearly forgotten Bob Cummings Show, "Love That Bob", circa 1955. Say what you will about the dated sensibilities of the show and the blatantly sexist and shallow tone, Nancy's rich characterization shines thru and stands the Test of Time. Like her later character, Miss Jane on the Hillbilly show in the 60's, Pamela Livingston was a marvel of comedic timing, vocal inflection and wicked intelligence. Watch her as she boldly (and futilely) tries to seduce Bob with the joys of nature. Observe her body language, her man-nersisms, her cocked head, her placement of his hand. Her subtle sexuality is infinitely more seductive (in the long run) than the crass, and obvious flirtings of the buxom models on the show. One wonders what might have befallen Bob had he taken the road less traveled and gone with Pam to watch the 3 Tufted Titmouses! Look beyond her carefully staged and safely androgenous stylings; Look carefully at her full, pouty lips, her bedroom eyelids, her wide, curvy hips... Her deliriously bouyant MIND! What thinking person of any gender could resist? Think what Nancy could have done with a great script...One wonders if a strong stage career might have been hers had not the trappings of Television success befell her. We miss you Nancy! You Transcend! Tags: lily, tomlin, sandra, bernhard, sarah, sliverman, ellen, degeneres, jethro, beverly, hills, miss, jane, lesbian, tv, ann, b., davis, buddy, improv, Author: MisterEsoteric |
