Semula keduanya bergerak dan berpikir tanpa kesadaran bahwa gamelan yang lain juga menduduki dunianya. Sedikit demi sedikit mereka mulai memandang pendampingnya masing-masing. Di dalam akar pergaulannya ada unsur-unsur kerukunan sekaligus inti perang juga. Pada bagian pengawak gending mereka akhirnya berhasil main bersama-sama secara akrab dan gotong-royong. Akan tetapi sehabis itu, akibat kesulitan dan tantangan dalam mencapai ketentraman yang mantap, persahabatannya seolah-olah meledak. Pada bagian pekaad karya ini, unsur-unsur peperangan muncul kembali dan berlangsung sampai selesai. Peristiwanya menimbulkan sebuah pertanyaan yang berbobot. Apakah dua kebudayaan mampu hidup bersama dalam keadaan damai? This new work depicts two entities or two cultures, each symbolized by a full gamelan Semarandana. At first the two behave and act without any consciousness of the other gamelan also inhabiting its world. Little by little the two become aware of each other. At the root of their interaction are elements of both cooperation and conflict. Just after the midpoint, in the pengawak section, they are at last able to truly play together. But after that point, because of the difficulty and challenge of attaining and preserving a lasting peace, their relationship comes to a kind of explosive end. In the closing section, the elements of conflict return and remain dominant.
