Title: Steve &Garry play celebrity songs - 1/2 View count: 43 Rating: 0 (0 ratings) Description: As a result of Steve once again perusing the record stores (remember when there were still record stores!) the boys play some interesting cover versions of songs done by celebrities (most of whom can't sing.) Mae West singing "Shake It Up," the now infamous "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" as performed by William Shatner, and Leonard Nimoy singing "If I Had A Hammer" just to name a few. I believe that they were originally done for charity. Now, in later years, these things have been reissued as being 'retro' and all that, but 25 years ago they were (hilarious) relics of the past consigned to the discount bins. (Steve was also the first to rediscover the gay activist song "Lesbian Seagull" which was later popularized in the Beavis & Butthead Do America movie.) I believe this audio is from 1987 or 88. More classic Steve & Garry from the WLUP AM 1000 era!
