GABRIELLA: *walks up to her room, avoiding her dad. she walks into her room that she shares with Katelyn* GABRIELLAS POV: I love music, and i love my dad, but if he finds out that practice was canceled, he'll make me practice with HIM. he wanted to be a famous musician while he was growing up so he puts a lot, no, a TON of pressure on me. all he's doing is making me want to be a successful musician less and less. *she signed onto AIM and sees her best (girl) friend zoey is online.* GABRIELLA: *IM conversation* hey zo. whats up? ZOEY: gabi! i just got home from the Roost! the jonas brothers where there!! they signed my arm!! GABRIELLA: wow. am i the only girl in this town that isn't star struck? JOE: I'll be right back!! *he turns to the crowd* I'll be right back! *Joe runs to the bathroom and sees Katelyn. he sorta slows down but then speeds back up cuz he really had to go. he comes out and katelyn is still standing out of the way, looking uninterestedly out the window. joe carefully looks around to make sure no one is looking, and walks over to her* JOE: Uh, hi. *katelyn looks at him* I'm Joe. KATELYN: Uh hi. Katelyn. *she shakes his hand* Um, no offense but shouldn't you be over there? JOE: *laughs slightly* Yeah, but i needed a break. and i saw you standing here and to be honest, i would have been mad at myself if i let you walk out of here without talking to you. KATELYN: *smiles* Why do you say that? JOE: *smiles back* Well, your beautiful. KATELYN: *surprised* Really? JOE: Yeah, you seemed surprised? KATELYN: Yeah i am... boys dont usually say that to me.. JOE: Why not? Its true. KATELYN: I dont know.. im kinda a tomboy. the guys at my school are only interested in girls with bleach blond hair who dress slutty and are totally clueless. JOE: Well thats not me. I'm interested in girls who speak for themselves. who are smart, AND athletic. KATELYN: *blushes* Well that sounds exactly like me. EMMA: Hey. shouldnt you be going to band practice? GABRIELLA: Got canceled. Max is grounded. EMMA: Oh. *continues typing* GABRIELLA: SO, what you workin on? EMMA: a paper on our town is spatial terms. you know, with the rest of the world? GABRIELLA: *laughs* No, i dont know. MR BROOKS: *yelling up the stairs* Gabriella? YOur gonna be late to practice! GABRIELLA: *sighs* Oh boy. EMMA: Just tell him. get it over with. GABRIELLA: *rolls off Emmas bed and walks downstairs* dad? MR BROOKS: Kitchen! GABRIELLA: *walks to the kitchen* Dad, practice was canceled.. MR BROOKS: *looks at her* Well this is a perfect opportunity for you to work seperately. why dont you go downstairs to the recording booth and practice on your own? GABRIELLA: *sighs* kay. *she walks reluctantly to the basement recording studio that was their dad's growing up* *Katelyn walks in the door, all smiles* EMMA: *walking downstairs* WHats gotten into you?
