Wh-what if he *chokes up* what if he hurts you Em, *looks up with nothing but pain and fear in her eyes* what if he hurts you too much Em. What about when you leave? *tears streaming down her face more now* what do i do when youre gone? E- *stands up and pulls her into a hug* its not going to happen Bella; I'll never leave you here with him... B- *hugs him tighter, crying into his chest* you should hide, hell be home soon E- *looks at her like shes crazy* Bella, since when would i let you face him alone? *raises his eyebrows* B- *ears prick up as she hears a car drive past the house, deeply exhaling once it has passed* E- *pulls Bellas face up to look in her eyes* Bella, ill see him tonight. B- *forces a little smile* Ernie would help, he still suspects... E- *looks at her with fierce eyes* no Bella. If we tell we tell everyone that way were covered. We we cant risk Ernies life. Not when hes been so good to us. B- *another tear creeps down her cheek* i dont want Ernie to die like... *chokes up cant finish* E- *hugs her even tighter* i now bells *stroking her hair in comfort* its been nine years and i still miss her the same as that first day *E&B hear a car pull up in the driveway and someone slam the door fiercely* E- *looks at Bella, panic-stricken* here *hands her his baseball bat from his childhood* get in the closet B- *looks up at him, pleading with her eyes for him not to go and leave her* no, Em please dont... E- *covers her mouth interrupting her, they both hear the back door slam and someones heavy footsteps across the hard wood floor of the hallway, whispers so only Bella can here* closet now, Ive got this B *hugs her tight one last time, kissing her hair.
